There are a lot of different tire choices out there.  And different models of cars have different sizes that come standard.  VR4s and R/T TTs came in either size 245/45/17 or 245/40/18.  SLs and RTs came in either 225/55/16 or 225/50/17.  The focus of the tires below are for the turbo models.

BF Goodrich Comp TA ZR - I have these on my Stealth. Z rated, summer tire, fairly cheap in price,  good tire.

Sumitomo HTR4 - I have these tires on my Eclipse.  Great all-season, cheap in price, no 17 or 18 inch.

Sumitomo HTRZ - Summer tire, Z rated,  very cheap, no 18 inch, same thing as Dunlop D40M2 but cheaper.

Dunlop SP4000 - Great all-season tire.  V and Z rated.  Same thing as Sumitomo HTR4 but more pricey and comes in more sizes.  No 18 inch.

Dunlop D40M2 - Good summer, Z rated tire.  Same thing as Sumitomo HTRZ, but more sizes.

Dunlop SP8000 - Z rated, summer tire, popular tire, lots of sizes, moderately priced.

Michelin Pilot MXX3 - Very popular Z rated, summer tire.  Lots of sizes, but kind of pricey.

Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 - Good all-season, Z rated tire, lots of sizes, good prices.

Continental SportContact - Z rated, summer tire, moderatly priced.

Bridgestone Pontenza Pole Position S02 -  Z rated, summer tire.  Very good grip, top notch performance, very expensive.

Firestone Firehawk SZ50 - Z rated, summer tire, good tire, very popular, no 18 inch.

Bridgestone RE71 - Z rated, summer tire, kind of expensive, no 18 inch.

Goodyear Gatorback ZR - Z rated, summer tire, been around for awhile, no 18 inch.

Pirelli P7000 Supersport - Z rated, all-season tire, very reasonably priced, some problems with grip.

Goodyear GS-C - Z rated, summer tire, proven performer, Bob Fontana has 275/35/17 on his 600+hp VR4.

There are many other tires that will fit the 3/S.  Nitto and Toyo are both inexpensive and popular tires.  Places like Tire Rack and Discount Tire are good places to start searching.
